Shotts Congregational Church
Working closely with Shotts Congregational Church, TGP delivered key works to improve the church grounds and surrounding environment.
This project was funded by the Environmental Key Fund (EKF) – a North Lanarkshire-based initiative that focuses on supporting various environmental improvements throughout the area.
Launched in 2004, the EKF was initially created to distribute grants from landfill tax money and use these towards the development of Scottish Power Renewable’s Black Law Wind Farm. Since 2015, the EKF has been sharing community benefit funds from this wind farm to continually support projects throughout North Lanarkshire.
Shotts Congregational Church has benefited from the EKF with various enhancements to its grounds and the surrounding area.
TGP worked closely with the Church to first identify and recommend key works and improvements, including:
- new raised beds, featuring rabbit-proof fencing, for local groups to grow vegetables;
- access paths;
- new seating areas;
- resurfacing of the access road;
- improved drainage;
- upgrades to eco-lighting;
- wildflower seeding and the creation of an orchard.
Whilst works are still ongoing and nearing completion, we’re thrilled to see the progress being made and the important impacts made by the Environmental Key Fund.
“Shona I would like to personally thank you for all the work you put into this project. It has transformed our grounds tremendously. Obviously just a few things to complete but I just wanted to say thank you. Hopefully there will be other projects that in the future you can help us with too”
