The Limes Coxhoe
TGP was approached to provide landscape design and artist liaison services for a new housing scheme on the site of a former lime works.
In conjunction with the artist David Paton, a quarry garden was created with stone features echoing the development of the village around a nearby quarry, with elements carved with lines from poems by Elizabeth Barratt Browning who grew up nearby.
Project approach and deliverables:
- A new landscape & tree structure.
- Enhancements to improve the quality of the space.
- Visual and noise screening, year-round interest and ecological value.
- Development of features relating to the railway heritage of the village.
This new green space provides an area of informal play for nearby residents, whilst adapting the ideas provided by the local community into artwork integrated with the project, utilising local materials and association with the community’s rich history.
TGP liaised closely with stakeholders and the local community to produce a well-received scheme of benefit to the new residents and locals alike.
